Land Clearing & Site Prep
Land Clearing & Site Prep in Madison County, NC
The work every good house starts with.
Site Preparation in Mountain Terrain
Site work is the least visible and most consequential phase of a mountain project. Get it right and the house sits comfortably, water goes where it should and the drive is usable in February. Get it wrong and you spend the next decade fighting erosion, slumping fill and a driveway that washes out every hard rain.
Arcadia Ridge handles selective clearing, driveway and access road construction, grading and building pads, retaining structures, culverts and drainage, utility trenching, and erosion and sediment control — either as part of a home we are building or as standalone site work for owners preparing a parcel.
Clearing With Respect for the Land
Respect for nature is one of our values, and on a job site that means specific choices. We clear selectively rather than scraping a lot flat, protect specimen hardwoods and root zones, keep disturbance inside the footprint the work actually requires, and open views by thinning and limbing rather than removing everything standing between the house and the ridge.
Slash and timber are handled deliberately — chipped for site mulch, milled where the material justifies it, or hauled — instead of burned indiscriminately or pushed into a drainage. Steep slopes get stabilized and seeded promptly so the first storm does not carry your topsoil into the creek.
Driveways, Drainage and Erosion Control
A mountain driveway is a piece of engineering. Grade, cross-slope, turning radius for delivery trucks, base depth, culvert sizing, ditch lines, water bars and surface material all determine whether it survives. We build them to be driven year-round, not just to pass an inspection.
Drainage planning covers the whole site: roof and surface water routed away from foundations, engineered retaining where grade demands it, silt fence and sediment traps during construction, and permanent stabilization at the end. Where required we coordinate erosion control permitting with the county or state.
